Ruby specializes in doing scar cover-ups for survivors of self harm, abuse and violence who want to heal that part of their life, leaving them with something beautiful and a reminder of their strength. Covering up scars from the past can be a part of the overall mental healing process and can give a sense of closure, validating perseverance. Mental health is just as important as physical health, the mind is a muscle that needs working out too and not just today, every day.
Below you'll find examples some of the scar cover up projects that Ruby has worked on recently. For more examples of her scar cover up work, head over to her Portfolio.
Please Note: Example scar cover-up photos have been shared with the client's full permission. Rest assured, any media (digital or traditional) will not be shared without your consent before, after or during any part of the process.
Out of the Darkness was created to raise mental health awareness and inspire body positivity year round. Once a month, Ruby gifts a free scar cover-up to a survivor of self harm, abuse or violence. All tips or money raised will be donated to lobbying against proposed regulations to ban tattooing over scar tissue, against censoring self harm and to a local mental health awareness foundation.
